SHE SERVED AN ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL AND DEAN OF INSTRUCTION FOR WEST FOR FOUR YEARS, AND THEN SHE HAD AN OPPORTUNITY TO LEAD AS PRINCIPAL ADVANCES IN AND THEN SHE JOYFULLY SERVE AS PRINCIPAL OF HER BELOVED WEST MESQUITE HIGH SCHOOL FOR FOUR YEARS AFTER VANSTON. THIS YEAR SHE HAS ENJOYED SERVING IN THE DISTRICT IN THE ROLE OF EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OF INNOVATION. UM DOCTOR, MORRIS COMPLETED BOTH HER MASTER'S IN EDUCATION ADMINISTRATION AND HER DOCTORATE IN EDUCATION AT TEXAS A AND M COMMERCE AND WE ARE JUST ELATED TO WELCOME HER TO THE SUPERINTENDENT, EXECUTIVE TEAM DOCTOR MORRIS. OH, GOOD MORNING. I WANNA START BY THANKING DOCTOR RIVERA AND THE BOARD FOR PUTTING YOUR TRUST IN ME. I'M HONORED, HUMBLED AND BEYOND EXCITED TO SERVE IN THIS OPPORTUNITY AND IN THIS ROLE IN MY ALMOST 24 YEARS IN MESQUITE D. I HAVE SEEN COUNTLESS EXAMPLES OF OUR TEACHERS QUITE LITERALLY CHANGING THE TRAJECTORY OF THEIR STUDENTS LIVES THROUGH POWERFUL INSTRUCTION WHEN ARMED WITH HIGH EXPECTATIONS, ENGAGING LESSON DESIGN AND OPPORTUNITIES FOR STUDENTS TO CREATE AND EXPLORE TEACHERS HAVE THE CAPACITY TO BRING ABOUT NOT ONLY MAXIMIZED OPPORTUNITIES FOR THEIR STUDENTS , BUT ALSO GENERATIONAL CHANGE. AND BEING A PART OF THAT JUST CAN'T BE MORE EXCITING. WHEN STUDENTS FEEL CONNECTED TO SCHOOL. IT BENEFITS THEIR PERFORMANCE IN EVERY AREA FROM GRADES TO ATTENDANCE AND BEHAVIOR. IN THIS ROLE I COMMIT TO MAXIMIZING THE EXPERIENCE OF SCHOOL FOR ALL STUDENTS. I CANNOT WAIT TO SUPPORT THE AMAZING WORK OF FINE ARTS CTE AND THE ADVANCED ACADEMICS DEPARTMENT AS WE CREATE OPPORTUNITIES FOR STUDENTS TO PARTICIPATE IN CHALLENGING AND REWARDING EXPERIENCES.
